Bad Lieutenant

So, I just finally got around to seeing Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans and I've got to say that I really enjoyed Nicolas' Cage's performance in it. I mean, the thing that truly makes Nic Cage entertaining to watch is the fact that if he loves a film so much he'll have so much fun with it, which is why most of his mainstream fare just depresses me. I mean, in Port of Call, he's just batshit insane and it's what makes him so lovable and shows his strengths as an actor. Serious, go watch some earlier Nic Cage if you've never seen some of it, it's truly some of the most amazing cinema you can watch.

Oh, I've got to say, loved the overly deus ex machina ending with the aquarium scene, hell yeah.

Materialism

We've pretty much as a society become bound to materialistic drives. Hell, what we base our entire ideas of wealth upon are simply driven by things such as fancy cars and lovely suits. We as a people have really lost the true meaning of life, to really experience it at it's fullest, and have in turn given into our simple wanting drives. This whole entire snare pretty much only whets our insatiable appetites for more, more, more, and we just dig our graves a little bit deeper and deeper every moment. I look at people, going about their daily lives just to own more and more goods, and they've become so attached to this simple feeding and delivering scheme that it's just kind of sad in a way.

I don't know man, it just doesn't chill with me that well.
